Mini-Mes

One of Sammy’s best friends in the whole world is coming over to play this afternoon. Brandon is 3 months younger than Sammy, and the son of one of my best friends in the whole world. We’ve known each other since we were 14 when we started high school together. It didn’t take long for us to figure out that Amy lived around the corner from my grandmother, so we hung out a lot over the years. Now they live in the next town over, and we get the boys together as often as possible.

We’re very lucky that our boys genuinely like each other. We constantly relay messages from one boy to the other about how much they want to play, go to the park, show off a new toy, you get the picture. And when they actually do end up in the same place, they turn into a tiny team of terror, decimating any room they enter and laughing all the way. It’s fun to watch them work together, then decide to do something separately for awhile, and then come back together with some new scheme in mind. A play date at out house always involves a pillow pit of some sort and lots of running around and wrestling (usually instigated by Chris, but met with vigorous enthusiasm).

They will be in the same grade in school. Just like their moms.

I love that we’ve created a Next Generation scenario with our children. I can’t wait to watch them grow up together. It’s only a few blinks until they’re starting high school.

But for now, I just have to make sure they don’t kill Sabrina for trying to crash their party.
