Earworms

You know how you hear a song, or a snippet or a song, or, heck, even a jingle, and it’s stuck in your head for days? Of course you do. Annoying, aren’t they? Seriously, even if you like the song, the fact that it sets itself up on auto repeat in your brain is enough to make you wish eternal damnation on the writers. Gah.

This can happen at any time with any song, but there are at least a few that are almost a dead guarantee that I will be humming at inappropriate times (the middle of a parent teacher meeting perhaps) and making me wish I could gently insert an ice pick through my ear and wiggle. My current list includes:

  • Hey, Soul Sister – Train
  • Hot N Cold – Katy Perry
  • I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas (and that’s the one none of us can escape)

You're welcome. Feel free to hum along.

There are probably more, but really, I think one of these three is in every single commercial on television today. I guess it’s better than that blasted Barney song. Wait. Dangit.
