T-Minus 1 to 2

Dear Sabrina,

Seems like I say this every month, but aren’t you 2 already? Here we are, just 1 month away. But the date doesn’t really matter, because it’s obvious you feel 2, if not older. You probably think you’re 16, but seeing as I never age, that’s impossible.

I’ll start with this to get it out of the way: you have the tantrum down pat. I mean textbook, throwing yourself on the floor, beating your fists and feet, raging at the world tantrums. Child psychologists should include you in their research. Combine that ability with your legendary LOUD, and you are a sight (and sound) to behold. Even though you can annoy me beyond my limits, I have to admit, it’s impressive as well. So, good form?

You have added OK and Yes to your mastery of No, so things are definitely improving in that respect. You are much more agreeable, and that helps Mommy more than you can know. You’ve also developed quite the talent for getting grownups to put words to what you’re asking, and then throwing out an OK, like you’re going along with something they suggested in the first place. Very crafty, young lady. That will come in very handy with the boys someday.

You adore your brother. When Sammy gets frustrated with a toy or a game, you take it upon yourself to come find me and tell me he has a “pobem.” You take my hand and pull me to his rescue with such resolve. I can see you’ll have each other’s backs in high school. In fact, I highly expect a mutually lucrative arrangement between the 2 of you when your friends are interested in Sammy and his friends in you. And then you’ll both punch out anyone who gets fresh with the other.

Thank you for not being too picky an eater. It’s a challenge to come up with healthy and interesting meals for you small fries, and I’m glad you’re so willing to dive into most of whatever I plate up. But I still won’t give you a cookie for eating your breakfast.

And I’m sorry you have to experience your first stomach virus this month. It shocked you with its violence, but you took it like a champ and bounced back beautifully.

Honey, you are so much fun, and I can’t wait to see what you’ll discover next. Please don’t let it be the light sockets.

Love,

Mom
