The Highlights

The precursor to my weekend was a wonky computer that randomly decided to stop connecting to the internet. Seeing as that weekend was destined to include a visit with a most esteemed locomotive, a trip to the country to play with large dogs and ride through mud puddles on an ATV, and a playdate for 2 equally rowdy 5 year olds that disseminated into an afternoon in the park, I didn’t get around to fixing the wonkiness until Sunday evening (thankfully, a fairly easy fix that consisted of magic and several reboots). To say I am tired would be an understatement.

Perhaps we’ll go into a bit more detail later, but for now, a photo essay:

Friday afternoon, Thomas the Tank Engine made a pit stop in town, so of course, we had to check it out.

(This would be Sir Topham Hatt, he who runs the railway. We know where our bread is butteres, so we had to thank the boss for coming.)

Saturday was a long overdue visit out to the middle of nowhere where Chris’s sister & her family live. I kid, but it’s a good drive out there, & as noted by the hostess herself, there isn’t a doctor in town, so don’t get hurt. The kids got good & dirty, got licked by large dogs, & marveled at the latest addition to the décor.

And on Sunday, Sammy’s best buddy Brandon (& his mommy, my best buddy) came over to completely destroy the playroom, bake cookies (yes, they are boys, but so are Mr. Legasse and Mr. Puck, so there), and eventually retire to the park to burn off any remaining energy (of which there was plenty, amazingly). Exhaustion was setting in (for me, not the kids, as mentioned in the previous sentence), so I didn’t have the strength to take any pictures.

To make up for that, here’s a shot of Her Royal Highness, Princess Pigtail. The cuteness, it is powerful.

I’d like to thank my children for finally passing out so thoroughly that they didn’t stir until after 8:30 AM. This will likely not recur until both of them have the word teen in their ages.
