Wednesdays are fast becoming my favorite day of the week. Why, you ask? (Not that you really asked, but it’s my site, so there.) Because it’s double ad day at the fancypants grocery store near me. Yes, I am a sad, sad person.
There are a good handful of fancypants grocery stores in the surrounding area, and by comparison, this one if more of a good pair of jeans that make your backside look good than a plush velvet trouser suitable for meeting the Queen. OK, I’m taking the analogy too far now. My point is, while there are more gourmet stores around, and I do like to visit them in an amusement park of food kind of way, this one is within a mile of my house and actually has items I can afford mixed in with the swankier stuff I can’t find in the more run of the mill places. (Sometimes, the advertised specials are even cheaper than I can get in – gasp! – Walmart.) And it just so happens that they overlap their circulars on Wednesdays, so I can hit up the Cheap twice over. And you know I love me some Cheap.
I’ve also figured out where they hide the reduced merchandise around the store, and no, I’m not going to tell you.
But the best part is the free coffee at the front of the store. Yes, I know they’re trying to get me to buy some of their upscale coffee, but that’s not going to happen. They’re getting some of my money on a near weekly basis (I usually get suckered into at least 1 thing I wasn’t planning, damn their beautiful produce displays), so I don’t feel too guilt for having a mini Starbucks moment in the aisles. It’s not like I’m filling up my Big Glup; it’s just a Dixie cup (OK, maybe 2
It’s becoming something of a routine for Sabrina and me, after dropping off her brother at school. She happily points out “Mommy’s coffee,” and it quite partial to the snap pea samples they frequently display. Win win.
It would seem it doesn’t take a whole lot these days to give me a little charge. And it would also seem I don’t have a whole lot to talk about today.
