Things that have sucked lately:
Feeling like razor blades are cutting your throat during every swallow. For a solid week. Thank heaven for antibiotics, which seem to be alleviating the problem, even though they were prescribed to combat strep throat that tests say I didn’t have. Holy confusion, Batman.
Sabrina’s amped up drama queen act. She can fling herself across the room and wail forlornly (and LOUDLY) with the best divas out there. Repeatedly. All day long. If I give her water instead of (watered-down) juice. If Elmo isn’t on her TV screen Right. This. Minute. Or Barney. No, I mean Elmo. No, Barney! No, the Wiggles! No, Ernie. Bah!
Knowing that the beginning of holiday season means I won’t be seeing much of my husband during the next 2 months. Or having the backup with the kids.
Having to schedule a fourth – FOURTH – ear tube surgery for Sammy. After 2 opinions and way too many dollars, it gives him the best fighting chance in school to develop his comprehension level. Doctor #2 says he’s basically under water right now. That’s not acceptable. Neither is a tube ejecting itself after a few months (and way too many more dollars). The surgeon better super glue those noodles in Sammy’s eardrums if that’s what it takes. Round 5 ain’t happening.
Trying to look on the bright side:
Antibiotics are free at the new supermarket pharmacy in town. And they’re working.
Sabrina had successfully stayed put for at least 1 time out without me having to sit of her. This is either a complete anomaly or a sign that she can learn to take it as well as she can give it.
The extra money is definitely not a bad thing at holiday time. And he always comes home to read a story to the kids.
Sammy will hear better. And according to the doctor, he’ll be getting a different type of tubes that he usually has to remove (instead of them coming out), and the one kid whose tubes did come out had stayed in for a whole year. So there’s a track record there. Let’s hope Sammy isn’t the exception to the rule.
Onward we go.
